Nissan Motor Co. is set to become a significant customer for Renault SA's combustion-engine venture, signaling a collaborative effort to revamp their strained alliance and advance in the electric vehicle (EV) transition. As part of the reshaping, Nissan will receive gearboxes, engines, and half a million parts annually from Renault's Horse combustion-engine unit, established with China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. This move follows years of tension, allowing both companies to explore new partnerships and independent ventures. Renault plans to list its EV unit, Ampere, with significant investments from Nissan and Mitsubishi. Additionally, Nissan will collaborate with Renault's Ampere section to produce a battery version of its Micra compact car for the European market, reducing development costs by 50 percent. The alliance aims to demonstrate its ability to create substantial business value amid the changing automotive landscape.
At Griffin Nissan, we’re excited to see what this means for the future when it comes to Nissan and its electric lineup. Stay tuned for more exciting updates.
