How Does the Nissan Rogue
Stack Up to the Competition?

The New Nissan Rogue Rises Above Its Competition in Rockingham, NC

Nissan makes some roomy, fuel-efficient SUVs that offer outstanding value for families or busy professionals. The new Nissan Rogue is a popular choice because of its abundant passenger and cargo space and wealth of standard tech features. Other compact SUVs like the Mazda CX-50, Chevrolet Equinox, and Subaru Forester also have their positive qualities, but they can't match the overall value proposition of the Rogue. At Griffin Nissan in Rockingham, NC our team will gladly help you compare these SUVs to help you make the right choice for your lifestyle.

Nissan Rogue vs. Mazda CX-50

The new Nissan Rogue has spacious cabin with plenty of headroom, legroom, and second-row hip room. Rear-seat passengers enjoy 38.5 inches of legroom and 39.2 inches of rear headroom. Families in Hamlet who haul around lots of toys or road-trip necessities will appreciate that the Rogue has 31.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row of seats and over 74 cubic feet with the back row folded down.

The new Mazda CX-50 has a tighter interior than the Nissan Rogue. Back seat passengers only get 38.6 inches of headroom. The CX-50 also has less cargo space, with 31.4 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 56.3 cubic feet with the back row folded.

The Nissan Rogue comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, but a 12.3-inch display is available. Both versions are straightforward and intuitive, with handy physical controls for some functions.

The Mazda CX-50's only available infotainment system uses a 10.25-inch display that's controlled by a knob on the center console. This setup isn't very user-friendly because it feels like you're endlessly spinning or pressing the knob to switch between settings.

Despite having a roomier cabin and a better infotainment system, the Nissan Rogue's starting MSRP is over $800 less than the Mazda CX-50's base price.

Nissan Rogue vs. Chevy Equinox

The new Nissan Rogue has all the get-up-and-go you need for getting around Laurinburg. Its turbocharged three-cylinder engine generates 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. A continually variable transmission provides smooth, timely shifts. This powertrain is also efficient, earning 29 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 32 mpg combined.

The new Chevy Equinox is a bit more sluggish than the Nissan Rogue. Its turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine only produces 175 horsepower. Front-wheel drive Equinox models achieve 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive versions return 24 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

The Nissan Rogue rides comfortably on its well-tuned suspension. Its nicely built chassis absorbs the impact of most bumps in the road for a pampering ride quality on paved roads in Aberdeen.

The Chevy Equinox absorbs most potholes around town, but on the highway, it bounces a bit over humps or dips.

Nissan Rogue vs. Subaru Forester

The Nissan Rogue has ample muscle for merging onto highways or passing other vehicles. Its three-cylinder engine puts out 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. Southern Pines drivers will like the Rogue's outstanding fuel economy. Front-wheel drive models earn and EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

The Subaru Forester takes a little longer to get up to speed. Its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine only produces 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Since all Foresters have all-wheel drive, they don't get great gas mileage - returning just 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
